Before COVID-19, many of us had doubts about technology being a good thing. Everyone was talking about how technology was drifting families apart, how even when sitting in the same room everyone was busy with their mobile phones, how the concept of virtual friends was winning above actual friends, how today’s generation was becoming a target of social anxiety and the list goes on. Now if we look around us, it can be seen that it is technology that has still somehow kept us connected to each other. Technology is keeping us sane even in these dreadful times only when it is used in the right way. Extreme of anything can lead us towards destruction. Hence, it is very important to know how to use it in the best manner.

Using technology for personal progress

In times of a pandemic like COVID-19, when we are all going through some kind of mental stress, technology can play an important role in pulling us out of it. The first step is to keep ourselves busy and limited to social media as much as possible. When the term busy is used, we tend to confuse it with watching movies and series, listening to songs, playing games and what not but this is not keeping you busy. It is just a distraction. In order to keep yourself engrossed, you have to engage yourself in something productive. For instance, you can get yourself enrolled in an internship. Making an online resume can help a lot. You can start writing your own blog, write a book, make art pieces for your own personal gallery, or even make your own YouTube channel and let the world see your talent. In some works, you can even make money sitting at home. What is better than to relish the comfort of your homes while working?

You can also try to master different arts. You can enroll yourself in different dance classes, instrument classes, writing workshops, graphic designing workshops and different languages. There are that help you to learn. This is where technology becomes our savior. We do not have to go to different classes and travel for miles to learn something. We can do it right here in the comfort of our homes, where we are absolutely safe from any outside danger like COVID-19. After all, wasn’t this the purpose of technology, to widen our horizons, save our time and to make one a master of many arts?

How to use technology to erase our social anxiety instead of developing one?

The reason why technology is playing a very major role in today’s generation’s social anxiety is because we all prefer texting and chatting instead of calling or talking to someone in person. Now, in times of social distancing, we can find a solution it to it. A very simple one in fact.You can start by calling your friends instead of messaging them or even video call, if you feel comfortable. Even in such times, we can eat anything sitting at our homes, shop for anything, and watch latest movies. All this is made possible because of technology. We don’t have to wait for days for a letter to arrive so we can know about the well-being of our dear ones. Isn’t it just wonderful?
